Firmament. is a software development corporation specializing state of the art pattern analysis and matching of fingerprints based on Vector Field principles. The biometric solutions (when integrated) and products of seasoned internationally rated manufacturers and BSP are built to work in practical applications addressing the realities and challenges of identifying persons under live conditions.

This solution is being used as the fingerprint storage algorithm for storing the fingerprints and its methodology is being used for the 1:1 and 1:N matching at the point of transaction. It will be used to convert all the prior collected ink prints to digital format for storage in the database. One of the major attractions of this solution is its Live Scanner Inter-Operability (LSIO) functionality which is demonstrated through the ability of the solution to work with multiple fingerprint scanning devices.

No two people have ever been found to have the same fingerprints. Before the computer revolution, fingerprints were compared manually (one by one) by fingerprint experts.

AFIS stands for Automated Fingerprint Identification System. AFIS is a turnkey computerized solution that captures, matches (compares), identifies (verification) and stores digitized fingerprints on a custom database program which is adaptable for security or simple personnel identification and payroll system.

Live Scanner Interoperability

True scanner interoperability is a very difficult accomplishment due to the immense variety of fingerprint sensors and the non-standard images they all produce. Live Scanner interoperability (LSIO), is defined by the ability to enroll a live fingerprint with scanner hardware A (from vendor A), to capture the same live fingerprint with scanner B (from vendor B) and biometrically matching both scans with each other live and on the fly. LSIO is a feature and a capability of the underlying biometric pattern analysis algorithm and much more desirable across scanners than simple scanner independence.
LSIO is not an industry standard; but a requirement recognized from real live biometric implementation experiences. However, LSIO capability must be proven effective between rolled. vs. flat scanner, as well as between PC. vs. Embedded (micro-controller) platforms.

This capability allows a suite of cross-source fingerprint match options:

 Ink Rolled .vs. Optical flat
 Ink flat .vs. Optical flat
 Optical flat .vs. CMOS flat
CMOS flat vendor A .vs. CMOS flat vendor BLSIO efficacy involves proving the successful 1-1 and 1-Many match between a live fingerprint with scanner hardware A and the live capture of the same fingerprint with scanner B. This test should be performed among scanners on the same PC platform, as well as between scanners across PC and embedded platforms.

The LSIO capability at either the PC or embedded platform level involves proving the mentioned cross scanner matching features. LSIO is not difficult to deploy and take advantage; however, an important precaution recommended to any integrator or end user of biometrics is to require the scanner hardware vendor to export and backup the raw images produced by the selected hardware technology in a standard image format. The backup of such data should be at the control and possession of the customer.

This feature if applied to the pension fund administrators would give them the freedom to choose which hardware manufacturer they are most comfortable with and ensures continuity in the event that a hardware manufacturer discontinues a model or goes out of business.

National WebCheck™ - Allows agencies to conduct civilian fingerprint background checks against the state AFIS and the FBI via the Internet, reducing the response time required to perform a background check to within two business days - generally within a few hours. With National WebCheck™, FBI background checks no longer need to be submitted manually: The software produces and transmits a transaction with the images and demographics that are required by both the FBI IAFIS and the State criminal agency. Prints are captured using a three-step capture routine of three, consecutive, plain impressions: The four fingers of the right hand; the four fingers of the left hand; and the two thumbs. The system then segments the fingers to produce fourteen separate images, as required by the FBI.
CVT-SDK

The CVT SDK is a software developer’s kit built with Code Vector Technology intended for developers interested in developing biometric solutions for commercial distribution or internal use. The developer kit offers the developer the ability to capture fingerprints from any supported sensor and the capability to perform One-to-One and One-to-Many biometric comparisons between sensors with a false accept equal to zero (FAR=0). The CVT SDK is powered by the Code Vector Technology (CVTTM). With complete control over the data the CVT-SDK can be easily integrated into a customer's existing security system

About CVT Technology

In addition to the traditional minutia points used in current fingerprint
recognition systems, CVT uses the morphology of the fingerprint pattern
defined by it vectors, to deliver a matching tool with effective discriminating capability Hardware Independence CVT-SDK is independent of the capture scanner hardware.

A fingerprint is vector processed (vectorized) in the same manner regardless of its origin. This powerful development tool is compatible with any CVT/ AFE compliant scanner.

Security and Encryption
CVT-SDK offers a two layer AES encryption scheme. The lowest layer protects the CVT technology and template. The upper layer allows the integrator or end user to protect the fingerprint record with an encryption key controlled by the integrator or end user.

Complementary products

CVT-SDK is compatible and can be used with the following complementary products or tools:

- Cluster Oriented matching (CVTSDK-ASYS) The search engine is managed and distributed among multiple CPU's in a Microsoft cluster environment, providing scalability. Included Source Files - ActiveX based function libraries.
- Sensor Specific Functions.
- Example Applications in VB, VC++ and ASP.

Basic biometric functions
- Create a template
- Compare 2 templates
- Compare N templates in RAM
